Diagnosis
There's no handrail!
Solution
Mount a handrail
- Measure the diagonal length of the stairway
- Buy a handrail
- Find where the studs are along the rail.
- Choose where the bracket will go based on the studs.
- Measure appropriate distances from either end of handrail for the mounting brackets.
- Measure appropriate height from floor to handrail.
- Mark where the brackets need to be mounted on wall and handrail.
- Attach bracket to handrail.
- Attach bracket to wall.
