Now Platform Utah release early availability!

When Utah release is around the corner, it’s that time of year again for us to learn about the new features, enhancements, and APIs that may be applicable to someone developing an application to list on the store or OEM. I'm very excited and want to share with you about the followings.

New Features and Major Enhancements

Hermes Messaging Service
Hermes Messaging Service is a new application in the Utah release. The Hermes Messaging Service enables you to integrate your Apache Kafka environment with your ServiceNow instance. 

Intelligent Servicing for Fraud
With ServiceNow Intelligent Servicing for Fraud, you can create cases for suspicious fraud alerts from an alert detection system as well as create a fraud case reported by a customer and from an external source such as law enforcement agency or a regulator. Intelligent Servicing for Fraud is a new application in the Utah release.

Flow Designer Integration Hub
Flow Designer continues to grow in capability and Utah sees many new capabilities including:

  • See the related flows for an action
  • Flow Priority
  • Stages support in flow diagramming
  • Schedule a system event in the Flow Engine Queue to cancel a flow that is in the in progress, presumed interrupted, or waiting state after a delay.
  • Restarts a flow, subflow, or action that was run in the background
  • Return a JSON string containing the list of flow stages.
  • Convert items to a subflow

IntegrationHub too has added capabilities/enhancements with the addition of:

  • Stream Connect for Apache Kafka
  • Integration Hub - Import enhancements
  • Import a REST message into a REST step
  • Test a REST step
  • Test a SOAP step

ServiceNow Mobile
Too many to name them all, Navigate between any number of instance sessions within a single mobile device, Scan barcodes and capture e-signatures in input form screens, Configure your apps with one unified tool in Mobile App Builder and Use enhanced capabilities in Mobile Card Builder to facilitate an easier-to-use visual experience are a few of the new features in addition to enhancements like Increased file uploading capabilities for input form screen, Enhanced file uploading capabilities for activity stream. If you have an existing mobile capability or think your app will benefit from one then you should look at how ServiceNow Mobile could accelerate your rollout.

Workspace
Added support for create Queue Triggers for Advanced Work Assignment (AWA) queues to trigger multiple actions during wait times for a better live agent hand-off experience, Explore, implement, and maintain AWA using a home-page experience, Improve agent productivity by enabling agents to rearrange session tabs to fit their own working style and Leverage dynamic translation for text/string fields on forms and journal fields within Workspace Activity stream like comments, work notes, and custom journal field​s, to meet your company's needs.

Virtual Agent
Added support for Automate topic testing for topic flows in ServiceNow Virtual Agent Designer, Integrate multiple ServiceNow instances within a single Slack workspace, Enhance the admin experience for Virtual Agent integrations with the new Channels and integrations page and Improve the Virtual Agent end-user experience using the Proactive Triggers feature.

Service Catalog
New in the Utah release for Service Catalog includes auto-populate a variable based on a reference type variable on the form, Set the scope of the catalog item using the catalog template in Catalog Builder, Create catalog items and catalog item templates in Catalog Builder in the new Next Experience look and feel and Create multi-step guided experiences to create and edit records in a table using the Service Catalog Wizard

Authentication
With respect to authentication, view user information such as login history, mobile logins, and sessions with the Identity Center, View and monitor the security activities of users with Identity Metrics(part of ServiceNow Security Center), Configure logins without Single Sign-On (SSO) to use MFA. Use factors like SMS or email to log in to ServiceNow, Configure time-based authentication (TOTP) for login using instance links that are provided for the users, Apply inbound authentication profile and API access policies to inbound SOAP and Scripted SOAP APIs, Export Processors, JSONv2, and RSS services, Control the REST API access with one global REST API authentication policy and Configure SAML-based SSO with ease using the SAML Guided Tour has been added in the Utah release.

Scripting and App Dev Enhancements

New Scoped APIs - DecisionTableAPI, GlideMultiRecurrence, VoiceTranscriptObject are a few of the new scoped APIs and methods included in the platform.

UI Builder Some of highlights for the Utah release includes, find pages and page variants easily with the new experience view, Use the improved page creation process that includes settings for page parameters, audiences, and conditions and Quickly scale the page building area to fit different screen sizes.

Platform Security- Use data privacy to remove personally identifiable information (PII) from your user data in a production instance and anonymize the data in non-production instances, Use the Domain Migration Tool to move a customer from a domain-separated environment to the customer's own dedicated instance , See access controls directly from the UI Page form and Explore security recommendations for customer-scoped UI Page records.

Core Now Platform - Provide support for admins to move high-priority events from the default queue to an isolated queue with a single click, Extend the capabilities of Log Protection to include safeguards against inserting records directly into the tables and enforce log protection rules while using Import XML, You can now export list view records from the transaction cancellation page and Added an option that activates translated choice records after a corresponding English choice record is added by a plugin. If a translated choice record doesn't have a corresponding English choice record, it's inactive by default.
